Travel Thursday : Florence, Italy

March 8, 2018

The next stop on my Tour of Italy brings us to the historic and enchanting city of Florence, which is located in Tuscany. The architecture was stunning and the city is absolutely gorgeous. One of the things I loved about Florence (which is what I love about the entire country of Italy) is the feeling of people truly enjoying life. No matter where you went, no matter what time it was, everyone there just seemed to take the time and enjoy the moment they were in, rather than just being busy and rushing to the next thing. It is so relaxing over there!

One of the first things I was able to see was the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore (also known as Il Duomo di Firenze). It was so beautiful and majestic! I felt really, really small standing in front of it (which is feeling I don’t get to experience that often!)

Sights around the beautiful city of Florence. And of course, I would take photos of menus 🙂

I got to stand on the Ponte Vecchio! During World War II, the bridges in Florence were being bombed but the historical rumor is that Adolf Hitler left the Ponte Vecchio standing because he liked it. I will say, it is an absolutely beautiful area. Also, on the Ponte Vecchio, I got to see the love lock bridge that our tour guide said was the original love lock bridge.

Walking around the streets of Florence, I really enjoyed seeing all of the pops of red and yellow! So many opportunities there for street photography.

I really enjoyed my time in Florence and would love to go back! Everywhere you turn, it looks like it could be on the front of a postcard. Great sights (and even greater food) that I will never forget!
